The Herb Research Foundation published an independent review of Chinese Scullcap safety in March, 2004, that also included Uniflex®.
The authors concluded:
"Chinese Scullcap is a flavonoid-rich plant that should be acknowledged as generally recognized as safe (GRAS); it is a safe and healthy food ingredient that would provide significant antioxidant capacity, among other health benefits."
Their analysis of Uniflex™ itself concluded:
"In addition, an extract of S. baicalensis and Acacia catechu containing 60% flavonoids (UP446) was evaluated at up to 2g/kg in mice and found to have no adverse effects. This equates to 5g per day in humans."
Black Catechu is classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe).
